Okay, so Kyra's first year to really get all that's going on with Christmas, right?! With most two and half year olds, you have to worry about them being scared when they go see Santa. Yeah, not our kid! Kyra is scared, no...TERRIFIED...of Christmas trees - well, any leaf really. She's also afraid of poinsettia leaves!! But let me back up...
We decided a couple weeks ago to head to the store after church to pick out our Christmas tree...excited to share the fun holiday season with the little monkey. We head to the sto' (which Kyra LOVES)...walk up to the trees (this is Food Lion...not a tree farm or anything with bunches of looming trees about). I'm holding Kyra and she begins to clinch her grip on me and start to climb...up me and away from the trees. We thought, how weird, right?! So, we went inside, thinking she'd get over whatever it was. Paid for our items...including the tree. Walking out of the store, she only had to glimpse the prickly green trees and the screaming started! Well, what do we do now? We have to get it home! So...we buckled her in, put down the seat next to her, and shoved in the tree. Oh, if you could have seen her face when she saw that thing come up beside her!! If she wasn't buckled in, she would have crawled out the open window next to her!
So, two days goes by and we wanted to put the tree in the stand. NO BETCHA!! We had to wait till she went to bed. Well, it's been well over a week now, and while she's getting a little more used to the tree, she still doesn't want to be picked up where she can see it at eye-level!! And she's never within 2 feet of it!! But, being the mean mommy I am, I couldn't resist having a picture of this reaction...you know, to humble her in her teen years. So...enjoy the Great Tree of Terror!
